China Beats Kazakhstan to Remain Unbeaten in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup

Host team China Kashgar routed Barsy Atyrau of Kazakhstan with an impressive 97-68 victory on the third day of the ongoing 25th edition of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup on Monday in Chengzhou, China.

With the win, the Chinese team remains unbeaten and has extended their hold of the top of the Group B team standings.

The win was the third straight victory for the Chinese basketball side, which is composed of players from the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association.

According to the official website of FIBA, foreign reinforcement Darius Adams poured in 21 points and grabbed two rebounds along with three assists and two steals in 26:32 minutes of playing time for the winners.

Li Gen and Zhou Qi contributed 17 points and 15 points respectively while Minyang Sun and Mugedaer Xirelijiang added a combined 22 points for the Chinese team. China Kashgar is set to face the winless Malaysia Dragons on the fifth day of the tournament.

Barsy Atyrau was led by Mikhail Yevstigneyev and Pavel Ilin with 21 and 19 markers respectively.

The Chinese team connected 10 of their 20 attempts from the three-point line while the Kazakhstanis just drained in nine of their 27 shots. The home team also had a good defense, forcing the opposing side to commit 21 turnovers and snatching a total of 10 steals during the game.

The Quiping Li-headed China Kashgar also dominated the paint posting a 28-18 advantage and scoring 12 fast break points.

The FIBA Asia Champions Cup kicked off on October 8, and it is scheduled to come to end on an October 16, 2016.
