Paris Saint-Germain is rumored to be preparing a world record $245 million bid for Barcelona winger Neymar next summer.

The French team has been frustrated in its pursuit of Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and so the club has turned its attention to the Brazilian captain.

PSG officials are said to have offered Neymar a Lionel Messi-like deal while also extending a significant transfer fee to Barça, but the proposals have allegedly been rejected by the Catalan club, according to Goal.

However, Les Parisiens is not yet quitting on the Brazil international as reports are out that the Ligue 1 champions will submit another bid next summer that could reach up to $245 million.

The current world football transfer record was recently broken by Manchester United when the English Premier League side bought midfielder Paul Pogba from Italian champions Juventus for $110 million in August. The previous record was held by Real Madrid for its $105 million acquisition of Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.

This summer, Neymar was almost enticed to join the Parisians when PSG offered him $44 million a year in wages and also the chance to join some of his best friends in the Brazil national team currently with PSG.

He ultimately turned down PSG's offer and opted to re-sign with Barça to a five-year deal with an annual wage of $27.5 million.

There are rumors that Neymar's agent, Wagner Ribeiro, and his father, Neymar Sr., used PSG's interest to boost up Barcelona's proposal.

Caught Offside noted that PSG would be "desperate" to sign Neymar next summer as the team has been struggling in the French top flight this season with the exit of top attacker Zlatan Ibrahimović.

The team is currently in the third spot on the Ligue 1 table, which is quite unfamiliar as they have dominated the competition since 2012.

Barcelona is said to be unaffected by the rumors as club officials are "convinced that Neymar is content at the club and is not considering a move away" for as long as the team is winning.
