Basketball News: China Outlasts Qatar to Advance to FIBA Asia Champions Semis

Unbeaten China Kashgar outlasted a determined Qatari basketball squad of Al Rayyan with a 95-84 overtime victory in the ongoing 25th edition of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup on Friday evening at the Chenzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium to secure a spot in the semifinal round of the international basketball club tournament.

According to the official website of FIBA, foreign reinforcement Darius Adams poured in team-high 27 points, including five three-pointers to lead the Chinese squad for their fifth straight victory.
The 2014 Best Offensive Player of Germany's Bundesliga had a tough time finding his range after shooting nine for 20 from the field, but connected a much-needed trey in the last seconds of the regulation period that sent the game in to overtime.
Former NBA player Andray Blatche registered another impressive double-double game performance of 22 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five assists and three steals in 37:27 minutes of playing time.
NBA draftee Zhou Qi also had a spectacular game with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Li Gen chipped in with 11 markers for the winners, who also top the opposing team with a 44-2 advantage in points from the bench.
The Chinese team entered the final period trailing by seven points 62-55, but the Qiuping Li-headed side staged a 20-13 run during the fourth quarter, including the heroic three-point shot of Adams that extends the game to an extra inning.
With the momentum on their side, the host team overpowered the Qataris during the overtime period with a 20-9 charge to seal the game with a win.
China will be facing Petrochimi of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the semifinals. The Iranians prevailed over the team of Iraq's Al Shorta in their quarterfinal match with an 88-67 triumph.
Preston Knowles paced Al Rayyan with game-high 37 points and with nine boards and four assists under his name.
