A wild three-way NBA trade rumor sending Iman Shumpert to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Ricky Rubio to the Sacramento Kings, and Darren Collison and Ben McLemore to the Cleveland Cavaliers is recently suggested, as the said clubs seek to improve their roster before the new season.

The Cavs are thin in point guard depth entering the 2016-2017 season after Milwaukee Bucks acquired Matthew Dellavedova in a sign-and-trade deal in July. At the moment, rookie Kay Felder is the only option of head coach Tyronn Lue behind Kyrie Irving as Cleveland is yet to solve its issues with 13-year veteran Mo Williams.

NBC Sports' Pro Basketball talk reported that the reigning NBA champions are in "advanced discussions" with several teams to trade for a point guard, although it was not specified which team they are currently negotiating with.

Meanwhile, the Wolves is rumored to be shopping Rubio as the team seems to be ready to christen this year's fifth overall pick Kris Dunn as their new starting point guard.

Wolves head coach Tom Thibodeau is said to be keen on giving Dunn the opportunity, which might leave the Spaniard unhappy coming off the bench.

As for the Kings, any trade that would get it a top playmaker is reportedly welcome after Rajon Rondo left the club in free-agency during the summer.

These bases have instigated the above-mentioned three-team trade speculation, which could happen before or during the early weeks of the new season.

Inquisitr noted that the suggested trade satisfies "all NBA trade and salary cap restrictions" and could push through if the three teams involved approve such transaction.

The trade significantly affects the Cavs, especially that being the defending champion, the team has been doing all it can this preseason to stay at par with arch-rival Golden State Warriors, which has noticeably improved following its acquisition of Kevin Durant in July.

It is worth noting that Collison and McLemore bring significant depth to Cleveland's point guard and small forward positions. It also adds another potential wing defender in McLemore, who could come in handy against Durant and Klay Thompson.
