China has strongly reacted to an Indian campaign calling for a complete boycott of China-made products in the country.
A New Delhi-based Chinese diplomat said on Thursday that boycotting Chinese goods in India will 'negatively' affect bilateral ties and Chinese investment in the largest South Asian nation.

"China is more concerned that the boycott will negatively affect Chinese enterprises to invest in India and the bilateral cooperation, which both Chinese and Indian people are not willing to see," Chinese embassy spokesperson Xie Liyan said in a statement.
He also pointed out that China's exports to India accounted for just two percent of the country's total exports, therefore, the boycott of China-made products in India will not significantly reduce China's exports earning.
Liyan further stated that the Indian consumers and enterprises will be the most affected of the said move.
"In the long run, boycott will not only hurt Chinese goods sale, but also cause negative effects to consumers in India. Without proper substitutes, the biggest losers of the boycott of Chinese goods will be Indian traders and consumers," he added.
An Indian social media campaign to ban all Chinese products is slowly gaining popularity across the country.
Last week, renowned Indian Yoga guru Baba Ramdev alleged that China was making money out of India and helping country's arch rival Pakistan.
He also called for complete boycott of Chinese goods. The boycott campaign was started to protest China's support to Pakistan.
Beijing recently blocked New Delhi's bid to designate Pakistan-based terror group Jaish e Mohammed chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist at United Nations. Azhar is believed to be involved in recent Uri terror attack as well as Pathankot airbase attack.
This trade deficit with China is increasing every year. And the sad part is that China is using this money to help Pakistan (2/2)
