The Cavs has not made any significant additions to further strengthen its team in the offseason except re-signing LeBron James and JR Smith. The team added James' former Miami teammate Chris Andersen and veteran small forward Mike Dunleavy in the summer and that was it.

There are speculations that team officials believe they have not stayed up at par with Golden State, especially after Kevin Durant chose to move to the Warriors in free-agency.

Right now, two teams are reportedly interested in dealing for Shumpert and they are the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves.

HNGN indicated that the Heat could offer starting point guard Goran Dragic to the Cavs in exchange for Shumpert and a couple more trade pieces. The report said Miami is looking to unload Dragic's salary to potentially acquire players "that will be free agents after this season".

If the rumors are true, then it means that the Heat are beginning to go on a full rebuild, which some analysts believe is the best move for the franchise at the moment. Miami no longer has a legitimate superstar in their lineup after losing Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh this season with Dragic and Hassan Whiteside remaining as the best players in their roster.

Some have suggested that the Heat should just tank this season and upgrade next summer, but it is not likely to happen with Pat Riley still at the helm.

Meanwhile, the Wolves is also rumored to be interested in acquiring Shumpert and the team could dangle point guard Tyus Jones to pull off the deal, according to Inquisitr.

The team has a surplus of point guards right now with Ricky Rubio and Kris Dunn battling for the starting spot while shooting guard Zach LaVine also plays the role from time to time.

Jones has a lot of talent and potential to be one of the best floor generals of the future, but he will not have the playing time he needs to develop as long as he stays with Minnesota.

The Wolves needs a defensive wingman to ease the pressure off Andrew Wiggins and let him focus more on the offensive end. Shumpert is said to be the ideal player to do that.
