Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, the tournament's defending champion, kept her title defense alive after successfully beating Karolina Pliskova and earned the final ticket to enter the semifinal stage of the ongoing BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore on Thursday.

Radwanska, who claimed the title last year after a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win over Petra Kvitova, scored a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over the  Czech tennis ace.  The winning tennis player needed 78 minutes to finally seal the win, BBC reported.

It was the Polish tennis star's second victory in the competition after edging Garbine Muguruza of Spain with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 on Wednesday.

Following this success, Radwanska will meet the event's top seed Angelique Kerber in the final four, according to The Guardian. She ended up as the second top finisher in their White Group as Svetlana Kuznetsova, who will play Dominika Cibulkova next, had a better 5-4 win-loss record compared to her 5-2.

"I have nothing to lose at the moment; I'm going to play the best player this season," the 27-year-old Radwanska said after the semifinal match.

"She [Kerber] has played incredible tennis this year," the newly crowned 2016 China Open champion added. "It's going to be a great challenge and hopefully I can play even better."

Radwanska currently ranks third in the latest WTA world rankings. She had faced Kerber on the court in 11 official matches, where she enjoyed a 6-5 head-to-head advantage since they initially competed against each other in 2008.

World No. 1 Angelique Keber of Germany, along with Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia, entered the semifinal round of the tournament.

The German tennis ace finished the round robin phase after topping the Red Group with a perfect 3-0 win-loss record, while the Slovakian player had some good breaks as she edged Simona Halep and Madison Keys with a better sets won-lost record.
