The air quality tester device is set to be launched on Nov.2 via Xiaomi's MIJIA crowdfunding platform, which is China’s equivalent of Kickstarter, according to NDTV Gadgets. This Xiaomi’s plan comes just a week after it launched the Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix smartphones at a gala event in Beijing.
The air quality monitor will be part of the Mi Air Purifier family of Xiaomi’s pool of products. The device is designed to function with the Mi Air Purifier 2.
Xiaomi’s air quality monitor is composed of a single motor with dual mixed booster fans and a three layer filter, which are PET Pre-filter, EPA filter, and activated carbon filter. All filters can last up to six months depending on the usage, and they are replaceable. The unit weighs 4.8kgs with the filter inside.
Users can now see the air quality of their surroundings. With a proper display, users will also be able to easily keep track of air quality without having to check their phones. The device could just be a standalone device, offering all the information without having to look at an app, BGR India reported.
