After nearly seven months since the last time he fought in the ring, boxing's only eight-division world titlist Manny Pacquiao is a once again a world champion.
Pacquiao, who announced his retirement from the competitive sport following his victory over Timothy Bradley in April, reclaimed the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title after dethroning Jessie Vargas of the United States with an impressive unanimous decision win at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night.

According to BBC, the seasoned Filipino fighter won all the score cards with all the three judges scoring for Pacquiao, 114-113, 118-109 and 118-109.
"I feel I could have done more but every round I tried to knock him out," Pacquiao, who registered his 59th professional boxing victory with the win, said.
The 37-year-old boxer scored a knockdown during the second round after he caught the American fighter, who is ten years younger than him, with a straight left that sent Vargas down on the canvass. Pacquiao then dominated the second half of the title match connecting 101 of the 212 power punches that he released during the match. This was Vargas' second professional loss in 29 bouts.
With his latest triumph, talks of a rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr. have risen anew with the undefeated American boxer watching at the ringside.
"We will see," Pacquiao said when asked if he wants a rematch against his former world title rival, according to The Telegraph.
The fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao in May 2015 was considered to be the richest match in boxing history. Mayweather reportedly earned a whooping $240 million from the fight, while Pacquiao got $120 million.
Although the match was billed as "the fight of the century," it failed to meet the expectations of the boxing fans with Pacquiao losing and later revealing that he had a shoulder injury.
