The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly considering to trade running back Adrian Peterson following the star player's latest brush with the law, NBC Sports writer Mike Florio reported on Sunday.
The 29-year old Peterson could face multiple games ban and a hefty fine from NFL after he was indicted on child abuse charges. The Vikings immediately released a statement after learning the incident, and announced that they are leaving all options open - including getting rid of the running back's hefty contract via trade.

Florio believed the Vikings are now looking for ways to trade Peterson, who will rack up tons of money in the remaining years of his current deal.
"Already in the big-money years of a contract that devotes way too much cash to a devalued position, the charges against Peterson could sufficiently diminish his standing in the eyes of the fan base to allow the Vikings to free themselves of salaries of $12.75 million in 2015, $14.75 million in 2016, and $15.75 million in 2017," Florio stressed.
On the other hand, Peterson has also been trying hard getting out of Minnesota after seeing the Viking's struggle to rebuild a competitive team. Last August, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed Peterson wanted to join his team and asked him to work on a trade that would make him a Cowboy this season.
Peterson, who covered 1266 and 10 TD last year, seemed to have already predicted his fate with the Vikings in a pre-season interview.
"I think the organization would take a heavy hit - for real - more so from the fan base," Peterson said earlier this year regarding the consequences of cutting him via NFC Sports." "I don't think it would be like a LeBron [James] situation where they're burning my jersey, this, that and the other. They might be doing [the opposite] and not buying some season tickets."
With Peterson's situation getting out of control, the Vikings could somehow pull off a deal to trade the running back, and the 'Boys are certainly among the teams to watch out because of their assets and their need to add another offensive weapon on the field.
If the Cowboys ever are going to land in Peterson, Jones has to take that step to finally make it happen. When it's going to happen? No one knows yet, but there's certainly some excitement building up this season.
