Prince Harry warned media on Tuesday against harassing his American girlfriend Meghan Markle in an official statement issued by Kensington Palace.
The statement, which also happens to be an unprecedented step of the Prince confirming his relationship with the Suits actress, said that "the past week has seen a line crossed." It condemned the press, saying it was "not right" to subject Markle to such treatment, the BBC reported.

According to The Independent, some members of the press and paparazzi have been misbehaving in attempts to obtain private and personal information about Markle, nearly bombarding every friend, co-worker, and loved ones. In fact, several newspapers even reportedly offered "substantial bribes" to his ex-boyfriend.
"His girlfriend Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments," the statement read.
The palace said that Prince Harry is worried for his girlfriend's safety. He also reportedly expressed disappointment as how he could not protect Markle even at this early stage of the relationship.
"Harry no longer felt it was acceptable for someone in his position to sit quietly," an insider from the palace told The Guardian. "The traditional no-comment position no longer felt acceptable to him."
Prince Harry asked for the official statement to be issued not only to protect his girlfriend Markle but also for the press to reflect upon and avoid further damage to be done.
