Harden went 9 for 19 from the field and made five of the seven free throw shots that were awarded to him during the 40:50 minutes of his playing time. He committed eight turnovers, but aside from him, Houston had four other players who scored in double figures.

With the win, the Rockets, which were on a two-game winning streak, improved to five wins and three losses and currently sits on the fourth spot of the Western Conference team standings. Harden and the Rockets won four of their seven games on road and won their first match in their home court.

The Spurs, on the other hand, suffered their third defeat of the season, with all of the team's three losses occurred in their home ground. They have an identical 5-3 win-loss record with the Rockets but the team was on a two-game losing skid.

According to ESPN, San Antonio used a rotation spearheaded by Kawhi Leonard, who scored a game-high 34 points, and Danny Green to defend Harden. However, with the Rockets' starting point guard having a superb game, the defensive strategy found little success.

Harden currently ranks no. 1 in the league for player with most assists per game while averaging 13.0 assists per contest. He has registered an average of 30.6 points per match enough for him to end up in the fourth spot in NBA's leading scorers.
