American network provider Verizon has unveiled the newest addition to its Android tablet series, the Ellipsis 8 HD.

The Ellipsis 8 HD is an upgraded version of the previously released Ellipsis 8. As the name suggests, the main difference between the two devices is resolution. The Ellipsis 8 only has a 720p resolution, while the new Ellipsis 8 HD has a 1080p resolution, according to The Verge.

Aside from resolution, Verizon also made some upgrades to the camera. The new Ellipsis 8 HD has an 8-megapixel rear facing camera. The new Ellipsis tablet also runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Ellipsis 8 HD has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The device has 3GB of memory and 16GB of storage space. The tablet also supports LTE networks.

The Ellipsis HD 8 is not exactly a premium-tiered tablet. Looking at the device's specs, it is more of a mid-range tablet with a decent set of hardware specs, according to Digital Trends. The tablet may not be a workhorse device, although it is a decent choice when picking a tablet for multimedia purposes like streaming online contents or watching HD movies.

Interested consumers can acquire the Ellipsis 8 HD in three different ways. First is by buying the tablet by paying its full retail cost of $249.99. Verizon is offering the device on a 2-year contract for $99.99, or the tablet is available for $10.41 per month with a 24-month commitment.
