Sichuan Blue Whales Beat Guangzhou Long-Lions in Double Overtime in the Round Six of the Chinese Basketball Association

Defending champions Sichuan Blue Whales continues to get hot and stretch their winning run as they defeated the league's bottom-low Guangzhou Long-Lions on Sunday evening in the sixth round of the 22nd edition of the Chinese Basketball Association.
According to EuroBasket, international veteran center Hamed Haddadi led the Blue Whales to a 103-97 double overtime victory over the Long-Lions, who are still yet to register their first win of the season. The former NBA player poured in 29 points and pulled down 21 rebounds for another spectacular double-double game performance.

The 7-foot-2-inches tall Iranian player also had four steals and one blocked shot. Haddadi went on a 10 for 19 shooting from the two point range and made 9 of 17 from the foul line.
Chinese point guard Wei Liu beat all scorers with 31 points, while Chen Tsai and Da Meng had a combined 23 points for the winners, who will be facing the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the next round of the tournament on Wednesday.
With the win, the Blue Whales has now improved to a 4-2 win-loss record and now currently tied with the Beijing Ducks for the fifth and sixth spots of the team standings of the 20-club league.
According to NowGoal, the Blue Whales have a sloppy start as they were outscored by the host team in the first two quarters of the game. Sichuan struggled and trailed during the first half of the match and entered the third quarter with an 18-point deficit 50-32.
In the final half of the match, the winning squad staged a 27-16 run during the third frame and rallied with another 22-15 run to send the game in to overtime 81-all.
Both teams refused to be the loser of the contest as they sent the game into an overtime with the scoreboard reading at 90-all. However, the Blue Whales prevailed over the Long-Lions in the second game extension as they outplayed the host team with a 13-7 charge to seal the victory.
