Former NBA Player Hamed Haddadi Named Player of the Week in the Chinese Basketball Association

Former NBA big man Hamed Haddadi was named Asia-basket.com Player of the Week for his impressive game performance for the Sichuan Blue Whales in the fifth round of the Chinese Basketball Association.
The 31-year-old Haddadi, who was the first Iranian to play in the NBA, had a double-double game performance of 34 points and 23 rebounds in their outing against the Jiangsu Dragons, which they won 92-86. The veteran center played for 42 minutes without committing a single turnover and also posted three blocked shots during that match.

According to Asia-Basket, the 2013 William Jones Cup MVP had an awesome 78.6 percent shooting from the two-point range, hitting 11 of his 14 shots during their fifth match of the season. Haddadi is the Chinese league's fourth-leading rebounder, grabbing 14.6 rebounds per contest, and he is the CBA's tenth best shot blocker, producing 1.8 blocked shots per match.
Haddadi, who led Sichuan to their first CBA championship, was named the Finals MVP last season and is currently averaging an impressive 53.8 percent shooting clip from the field after five matches played since the league kicked off last month.
The 7-foot-2 inches tall baller played for the Memphis Grizzlies for five seasons. According to the NBA's official website, he is averaging 2.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.3 assist per game. Haddadi was traded and had a short stint with the Phoenix Suns before being waived by the team in June 2013.
Haddadi is also a veteran of international tournaments. He is a member of the Iranian national team, which won the gold medal in the FIBA Asia Championship in the years 2007, 2009, and 2013. He was also a part of the national team that competed in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, which lose to the host country South Korea and settle for a silver medal finish.
Haddadi also steered the national squad to claim the top prize in the 2015 William Jones Cup that was held in Taiwan.
