"I'm kind of targeting the next Olympics [Tokyo 2020], and that's in, what, three-and-a-half years ... and I'm not counting!" the multi-titled American professional tennis player said while appearing on the program Home & Family on the Hallmark Channel.
The 36-year-old Williams have already won four Olympic gold medals, with one in the singles event and three in women's doubles. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, she became only the second player after Helen Wills in 1924 to secure Olympic gold medals in both singles and doubles event at the same Olympic Games.
Basing from the official website of the WTA, the Palm Beach Gardens, Florida-based tennis ace currently ranks no. 17 in the latest world ranking result. Williams, who turned pro on October 31, 1994, has won 49 singles titles under her name and conquered 22 doubles titles in her 22 years of colorful tennis career.
This season, the five-time Wimbledon and two-time US Open champion defeated the 25-year-old Japanese Misaki Doi in the championship round of the 2016 Taiwan Open last January to claim the only title that she won of the season. Williams recently struggled in other tournaments such as the Wuhan Open, where she was eliminated in the third round by Svetlana Kuznetsova and failed to advance to the second round of the China Open following her lost against Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai in the opening round.
Williams, who was steadfast in her belief that she can still compete on tour, spoke of the positives she took from the season.
"Where there's a will, there's a way," Williams said. "I definitely have the will, so I think I will keep finding the way. I feel like I'm going to get more [wins] as the future goes on."
