The Nets are reportedly going to pursue Phoenix Suns combo guard Brandon Knight to form a backcourt duo with Jeremy Lin in Brooklyn.

Knight, who will turn 25 in December, has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors recently because of the reported backcourt logjam in Phoenix.

The former Kentucky standout was demoted to the bench by head coach Earl Watson this season as the club decided to give sophomore shooting guard Devin Booker the opportunity to start alongside Eric Bledsoe.

Knight, Booker, and Bledsoe are three starter-quality guards that also earn starter-quality wages, which means that the Suns might eventually let go one of them as they will not settle paying $10 million or more for a bench player in the long run.

According to HNGN, Knight is the odd-man out as Booker is seen as the future face of the franchise, while Bledsoe is the team's leader at the moment. Knight has been linked to San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Washington Wizards since the rumors went out, but no team has officially approached the Suns for a potential deal.

Morning News USA reported that the Nets are set to "form a solid backcourt duo" to kick-start the full rebuild in Brooklyn if the team could successfully snag Knight from Phoenix.

The report also said that Knight is more likely to blossom further under Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson, who is known for bringing out the best in young players such as Lin himself and Al Horford when the two players started with the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks, respectively.

However, there are still no reports of what assets can Brooklyn offer Phoenix to make them approve of a deal involving Knight.

Knight is currently averaging 11.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 25.0 minutes per game, a significant drop from the 19.6 points, 3.9 boards, and 5.1 assists production in 36.0 minutes of playing time a night last season.

He has been struggling with his field goal shooting as well, connecting only 34.1 percent of his shots in his first 11 games this season. He shot 41.5 percent last year.
