The ruling world no. 1 Carolina Marin of Spain continued her winning ways in the ongoing BWF Thaihot China Open badminton tournament that is taking place in the city of Fuzhou in Fujian Province after defeating Sayaka Sato of Japan in their second round matchup on Thursday.

According to the competition's result in the official website of the BWF, the 2016 Rio Olympic Games gold medalist registered a remarkable two straight sets victory over the 25-year-old Japanese badminton ace. Marin had an easy time claiming her ticket for the next stage of the $700,000 World Superseries event by wrapping up the match and securing the victory in just 27 minutes.

She easily outplayed the current world No. 12 shuttler with a 21-13 win in the opening set and continuously outclasses Sato in the following game with another 21-12 second set victory to get hold of her quarterfinal round spot of the competition.

Marin entered the tournament as the top seeded player of the women's singles event. The 23-year-old Spanish badminton star got off to a spectacular start following her 21-18, 21-15 triumph over Ji Shuting of China in their opening round showdown last Wednesday in Court 1 of the Haixia Olympic Sports Center, basing from the report of the Latin American Herald Tribune.

Prior to the China Open event, Marin had an unwelcome injury in her thighs and suffered from gastroenteritis that evidently affected her game performance at the last Denmark Open. The injury caused her to lose in the semifinal round against Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in three sets. The two-time European champion was also forced to withdraw from competing in the recently concluded French Open last month because of the same injury.

Marin is looking to win her first China Open title and to add it up to the 20 different individual titles that she had won all throughout her professional badminton career.
