According to EuroBasket, former NBA journeyman Donald Sloan scored a team-high 30 points to come along with seven assists and six rebounds to lead the Southern Tigers to their fifth win of the season. The veteran American point guard went 12 for 16 shooting from the field including five connections from beyond the arc region in 38 minutes of playing time.
Guangdong enjoyed the luxury of having four other players finishing the match in a double-figure scoring game. The reigning CBA Domestic Most Valuable Player Yi Jianlian had 21 markers and 13 boards, while former NBA player Carlos Boozer also had a double-double production of 17 points and 15 rebounds.
Chinese forward Peng Zhou contributed with 15 points, while the Southern Tigers' big man Junfei Ren chipped in with 10 points. Foreign reinforcement Darius Adams paced Xinjiang with game-high 32 points.
The Southern Tigers made 15 of their 31 shots from the three-point range compared with the anemic 9 for 37 three-point shooting of the Flying Tigers. Guangdong also dominated the boards, outrebounding Xinjiang with a 53-39 advantage and forcing the opposing team to commit 19 turnovers during the game.
Basing from NowGoal's game result, the winning team staged an early 26-15 run during the opening period and capped the first half of the game leading 13 points 58-45. The Southern Tigers continued to pound the opposing team in the third quarter with another 27-20 charge to further stretch their lead to a comfortable 20-point advantage 85-65 going in to the final period of the ballgame.
In the final 12 minutes of the contest, the Southern Tigers easily pulled away with the victory as they held the Qiuping Ling-headed team to just 20 points in the fourth quarter.
