Symmetra, despite its varied set support of skills, is widely considered as one of the least-played heroes in "Overwatch." Because of this lack of interest, "Overwatch" developer Blizzard recently announced that it is overhauling the character.

"Overwatch" game director Jeff Kaplan confirmed that major changes are currently being discussed regarding the Symmetra character. According to Mashable, Kaplan said that these changes will be rolled out for public test "very soon."

In a developer video update shared on Tuesday, Kaplan said, "The problem we were seeing with Symmetra ... was that she was a very effective character but she was viewed as overly situational."

Kaplan added that in order to turn Symmetra into an effective hero without compromising its long-game effectiveness, they have decided to overhaul almost all of the hero's abilities.

One of the major changes will be Symmetra's ultimate ability. Blizzard is giving the hero a second ultimate ability, making her the first and only hero to have two different ultimate skills.

Aside from the teleport skill, which is Symmetra's current ultimate, Blizzard is adding a new shield generator skill. As the name implies, the new skill allows Symmetra to buff her teammates with a shield, which is effective within a certain radius while ignoring any line-of-sight obstacle.

The current photon shield skill will be replaced by the photon barrier skill. The new skill work similarly like the barrier field skill of Reinhardt.

The current version of Symmetra allows players to place up to six Sentry Turrets. Players can carry a maximum of three turrets at a time and had to wait for a cooldown to be able to place all six. According to Polygon, the new update will allow players to queue all six turrets. The turret cooldown will be reduced down to 10 seconds from the current 12.

A handful of minor tweaks will be made to Symmetra's weapon too including a slight range increase.
