Chinese Basketball Association Round 13: Shanghai Sharks Extend Winning Run, Jimmer Fredette Scores 44 Points

League leader Shanghai Sharks continued its winning ways a further bolster its grip to the top of the team standings after defeating the Qingdao Eagles with a 111-98 victory on Friday evening in the ongoing 22nd season of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

According to EuroBasket, American point guard Jimmer Fredette, who leads the CBA in scoring, poured in a game-high 44 points including six connections from beyond the arc area. The former NBA player also had six rebounds and six assists while playing for 38 minutes on the hard wood.
Frenchman Guerschon Yabusele contributed with 20 markers while local players XiaoYu Liu and ZhaoXu Zhang chipped with 14 points and 10 points, respectively, for the Sharks, who now own an impressive win-loss record of 12-1.
With the victory, the Yao Ming-owned basketball club stretches their winning streak to six straight victories following their close game 104-103 loss against the team of Jilin Northeast Tigers in the seventh round of the regular season last month.
Basing from the game result in the website of NowGoal, the Sharks began the first 12 minutes of the game with a strong start by staging an early 27-17 first quarter outburst. The winning team continued to pound the opposing side in the second quarter and established a commanding 20-point lead 62-42 at the half.
In the third frame of the ballgame, the Eagles tried to regroup and make a comeback as they put on a 32-22 charge to cut the deficit to just 10 points 84-74 entering the final period of the game.
However, the Sharks refused to give in to the late rallies of the XiaoBin Gong-headed ballclub as they held the Eagles to just 24 points in the final 12 minutes of the match while they managed to produce 27 points to seal the game with another win.
The Sharks will be facing the team of Bayi Rockets in the 14th round of the regular season while the Eagles will play against Fujian Sturgeons.
