Five-time NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder has extended his streak of triple-doubles to six consecutive matches in a 102-99 win over the Atlanta Hawks at the Philips Arena on Monday night.
According to The Score, Westbrook's streak is the longest in the NBA since the year 1989, when Chicago Bulls star player Michael Jordan recorded double figures in points, rebounds, and assists in seven successive games.

The 28-year-old Westbrook, who has been the sole superstar player of the Billy Donovan-headed ballclub since the league's 2014 MVP Kevin Durant opted to transfer to the Golden State Warriors, poured in 32 points, pulled down 13 rebounds, and dished out 12 assists. He now has 11 of the NBA's 22 total triple-doubles through the first quarter of the 2016-2017 season and continues to average a triple-double on the campaign.
Westbrook has led the Thunder to a 14-8 win-loss record, and the team has currently won seven of the last 10 matches played and was on a six-game winning streak. Oklahoma City is presently on the fifth spot of the 15-club Western Conference team standing.
Despite a poor start, Westbrook, who missed eight of his first nine shots, kept his streak alive with plenty of time to spare. The 2015 NBA scoring champion already had 15 markers and 11 boards when he registered his 10th assist with over six minutes to play in the third period, according to a published report of the ESPN.
Scooping up a loose ball after a turnover by the Hawks, Westbrook led a 2-on-1 fast break play that ended with a pass to starting shooting guard Victor Oladipo for a layup that gave the Thunder a 69-59 lead.
The string of Westbrook's triple-double game performances will be on the line when they host the visiting James Harden-led Houston Rockets on Friday at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The Rockets (14-7) is on a three-game winning streak and had won eight of its last 10 games played.
