The Android 7.0 Nougat update is finally rolling out to the HTC One M9, the company confirmed. HTC vice president for product management Mo Versi confirmed the roll out with a post on his Twitter account. Although he did confirm that Android Nougat will be released for the HTC One M9, Versi did not reveal the exact time when the update will go live.

The HTC One M9 was released in March 2015 running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat update will bring new features and upgrades to the phone. It is also important to note that only the unlocked version of the HTC One M9 will receive the update, according to GottaBeMobile.

According to Android Headlines, the exact list of upgrades and features to be added is still unconfirmed since HTC has yet to release the official changelog of the upcoming Nougat update. Some tech analysts said that users who were able to receive the update early should be able to come up with the list of new HTC-specific features soon.

It is known that the Android Nougat packs a handful of nifty features. One of the most interesting features added to the new operating system is the Doze Mode, which Google said can improve the battery life of a device. Another sought after feature included in the Nougat update is the ability to use multi-window, although not all apps support this feature.

The HTC One M9 is the second phone from HTC's lineup to receive the Nougat update, the first being the current flagship device and successor of the M9, the HTC 10. Rumors claim that HTC is also working on a new smartphone, called HTC Ocean, which will run on Android Nougat right out of the box.
