The Philadelphia 76ers are considering to trade Jahlil Okafor to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Zach LaVine, according to the latest trade rumors.

Philadelphia currently has a logjam at the starting center spot with Joel Embiid finally making his NBA debut this season. Aside from Okafor and Embiid, the Sixers also have Nerlens Noel, who is another young center with a lot of upside.

With three starting-caliber centers, Sixers head coach Brett Brown admitted that he will have a hard time finding playing time for all of them especially when Noel comes back from his knee injury sometime soon.

Speculations have been out since the offseason that Philly is planning to trade either Okafor or Noel in midseason for a point guard or wing player in order to create more balance to the team's roster.

Noel's name is mentioned more frequently in recent trade rumors after he announced that he is willing to be traded to another squad. However, according to the latest speculations, it might be Okafor who is really on the trading block.

Brown already saw what the combination of Embiid and Okafor can do on the floor. In a game against the Magic, the coach recognized the duo's effectiveness on the offensive end of the floor.

However, the defensive end is a different story as both Embiid and Okafor struggled defending the power forward of the opposing squad.

Brown has yet to see Noel play together with Embiid and some analysts believe that Noel is a better complement to the rookie because he is a better defensive player than Okafor.

Sportsrageous reported that the Sixers could potentially send Okafor to the Wolves in exchange for Minnesota's combo guard LaVine, who is reportedly not earning the trust of current Wolves head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Thibodeau recently told reporters that he is not impressed by LaVine's in-game dunks and that he is more interested in players that could provide wins to the team.

Recent reports said that Thibodeau is willing to trade one of his young players (rumored to be LaVine) to acquire a veteran that had previously played for him.

While Okafor is also a young player and has not played for any team with Thibodeau in charge, Fansided suggested that he could be effective alongside Karl-Anthony Towns in a twin-tower combination in Minnesota.
