As of this writing, the current NBA season has had 28 triple-double records, 12 of which were from Russell Westbrook. Despite this impressive stats, it appears that Westbrook is not at all impressed with all the attention his recent performance has garnered.
In a statement acquired by USA Today, Westbrook said, "Honestly, man, people and this triple-double thing is kind of getting on my nerves. People think if I don't get it, it's like a big think."

Westbrook was on the fringes of history following his seven consecutive triple-double performances, a streak that equals that of Michael Jordan, according to ESPN. Westbrook was well on his way to level the all-time nine-game triple-double streak of Wilt Chamberlain. Unfortunately, Westbrook's streak was cut short after a winning game against the Celtics when he posted 37 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.
Some sports analysts have also said that Westbrook's impressive performance may have underscored some of his teammates. The recent game against the Utah Jazz revealed some important insight in the Thunders' roster.
Victor Oladipo, who was acquired by Thunders via a trade from the Orlando Magic, missed his second consecutive game due to a wrist injury, and his absence was clearly felt. With Oladipo averaging 16.1 points per game, the Thunders' offense suffered without its second best scorer.
It is clear that since Kevin Durant's departure, the spotlight was shining bright towards Westbrook as the heir apparent to the Thunders' offense. However, the reality of statistics reveal that basketball is still a team-based game. If the Thunders want to have a legitimate shot at the title, they should start spreading the offensive responsibility to other members of the roster and not just rely on one person alone.
