Veteran Spurs Snatche Win Against Younger Celtics Team

Facing against the significantly younger Boston Celtics squad, San Antonio Spurs Gregg Popovich turned to his veteran roster. The decision paid out well as a more experience, albeit older, Spurs team come out with a home win against the Celtics on Wednesday night, 101-108.

Veteran guard Tony Parker closed the night with 16 points, 10 of which were made during the final stretch of the game. Parker, who is 34 years old and is currently playing his 16th season with Spurs, was his younger self again playing some flash gameplay and impressive leadership in the offense.

In a statement acquired by USA Today, Celtics point guard Avery Bradley said during the postgame press conference, "Tony made it a point that he wanted to finish the game out. You could tell. You could see it in his eyes, you could see it in his play."

The rest of the Spurs squad was productive as usual. According to NBA.com, Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs in points with 26, along with three rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block. Pau Gasol had a double-double with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists. Filling in for the resting LaMarcus Aldridge is David who had eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Spurs bench were also on their usual stride led by Manu Ginobili who had 12 points, two rebounds, and four assists. Patty Mills had 10 points and two assists. Center Dewayne Dedmon had 10 points and five rebounds.

Following the team's seaon-high 38 assists against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, the Spurs completed 33 assists on 44 field goals against the Celtics and posted an impressive 55 percent on the field.
