The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly looking to improve their frontcourt and the Indiana Pacers' Paul George is rumored to be one of their top trade targets in midseason.

Minnesota currently has a young core of three 21-year-old players who are all averaging more than 20 points per game, namely Andrew Wiggins, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Zach LaVine.

However, despite their promising lineup, the team has failed to meet expectations in their first season under new head coach Tom Thibodeau. The Wolves are currently second from the last place in the Western Conference with a 7-18 record, five games behind eight-place squad Portland Trail Blazers in the West standings.

Their current struggles have led to rumors that Thibodeau is looking to revamp the team's roster and a veteran frontcourt player is in the plans of the former NBA Coach of the Year winner, as per Fox Sports.

The report said that "having veteran leaders to act as mentors and provide on-court support is an important piece to develop a winning culture" and that Minnesota officials "recognize this, and are looking to address this need via the trade market".

HNGN reported that a potential trade with the Pacers could happen before February's trade deadline and it entails the Wolves to give up Wiggins and Ricky Rubio in exchange for three-time NBA All-Star George.

George has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors lately as Indiana is also struggling to establish themselves as one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference.

The former NBA Most Improved Player awardee has been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Sacramento Kings this season, but nothing has come to fruition or nearly came close to official negotiations at the moment.

With the restriction to trade newly-signed free agents lifted on Thursday, it looks like the trade rumors will gain more ground as teams scramble to improve each one's lineups and the Wolves and Pacers are no exceptions.
