AMD has been hyping the upcoming release of the company's new Ryzen processors. AMD claimed that its new products will match, and maybe even surpass, some of Intel's high-end chips without the need to shell out that much cash. A handful of past leaks have pointed to this possibility. Lately, a new benchmark leak revealed that AMD's high-end Ryzen processors have more tricks up its sleeve.

The latest benchmark data came from French tech magazine Canard PC. It was able to test an engineering sample of the AMD Ryzen processor with a base clock of 3.15GHz and a boost clock of 3.3GHz, according to Extreme Tech. Since this is an engineering sample, Ryzen chips that will hit that market will probably be a tad more powerful that the ones tested by Canard PC.

One of the many benchmark tests used was for video encoding and rendering. The AMD chip with model number 2D3151A2M88E scored 168.7 percent better compared with the very popular Intel i5 6600K, according to Digital Trends. The benchmark result also revealed that only one Intel processor managed to beat the high-end AMD Ryzen chip: the very expensive Core i7 6900K.

Another interesting fact is that the AMD Ryzen chip only required 93W of power even under a stress test. This is an important factor especially for enthusiasts as it gives a lot of headroom for overclocking.

The last piece of the puzzle now is how AMD will price its Ryzen processors. AMD has been going on for years that its new line of processors will be reasonably priced. Based on some of the company's recent releases, like the Radeon RX line of video cards, Intel might be facing some serious market challenge from AMD once Ryzen chips start hitting the shelves.
