Chinese Basketball Association Round 22: Shenzhen New Century Leopards Beat Shanxi Brave Dragons

After suffering three consecutive defeats in their last three games, the team of Shenzhen New Century Leopards finally broke their losing skid after scoring a victory over the squad of the Shanxi Brave Dragons with a 123-114 triumph in the 22nd round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Tuesday night.

According to EuroBasket, Chinese swingman Duo Meng poured in a spectacular team-high 33 points to lead the Leopards to their 15th victory of the season. The 26-year-old guard connected 10 big three-pointers from the 15 attempts he did while going 3-of-5 from the free throw line during the 38 minutes of playing time.

Leopards' foreign basketball reinforcement Jeremy Pargo went 11-20 from the two-point range to finish the match with 32 points to go along with eight assists and four rebounds, while Polish-Swedish big man Maciej Lampe contributed with 16 markers and seven boards.

Former NBA player Jamaal Franklin had an impressive triple-double game performance to pace the Brave Dragons, but it was not enough to beat the Leopards, who calibrated their game with just seven turnovers while forcing Shanxi to turn the ball over in 18 occasions during the match. The American shooting guard scored 35 points, dished out 16 assists, and pulled down 13 rebounds.

With the victory, the Brave Dragons now improved to a better 15-7 win-loss record. They are currently just a half game behind fifth-ranked team of Guangsha Lions, who own a 15-6 win-loss card.

Basing from the match result in NowGoal, the winning team ended the first 24 minutes of the ballgame leading by eight points, 65-57. The Leopards continued to protect their lead in the third frame of the contest with a 29-28 run to enter the final quarter with a nine-point advantage, 94-85.

In the final period, the Leopards maintained their control of the match as they limited the point production of the losing side while keeping their lead to seal the victory. Shenzhen will next face Jilin Northeast Tigers on Friday.
