Chinese Basketball Association Round 22: Guangdong Southern Tigers Beat Jilin Northeast Tigers

The league's second-best performing team of Guangdong Southern Tigers continues to extend their winning ways as they prevailed over the 12th-ranked ballclub of the Jilin Northeast Tigers with a 119-113 victory in the 22nd round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Wednesday evening.

According to EuroBasket, four-time CBA Domestic MVP Yi Jianlian put on another awesome game performance of 30 points and 23 rebounds to finish the game in double-double and deliver the 19th win of the Southern Tigers in 22 matches played this season. The former NBA player, who went on a 9-14 shooting from the two-point range, also had two blocked shots and one steal in 37 minutes of playing time.
Guangdong's American reinforcements have their share on the win with Donald Sloan pouring in 26 points and Carlos Boozer adding with 17 markers.
Chinese forward Peng Zhou contributed with 22 points, while compatriot JunFei Ren chipped in with 14 points for the winners, who outrebounded the Northeast Tigers with a 45-35 advantage during the game. The victory stretches the Southern Tigers' winning streak to impressive 17 consecutive wins, which is the league's longest for this season.
Former NBA player Jabari Brown paced Jilin with game-high 43 points while going 10-14 from the field and shooting 23-26 from the foul line. Malcolm Thomas added with 27 markers and 12 boards.
Basing from the game result in the NowGoal, the Southern Tigers began the first 12 minutes of the contest with a slow start as they trailed 22-19. However, the winning team easily adjusted and put on a 37-28 run in the second quarter to cap the first half leading 56-50.
In the third frame of the match, Jilin staged a 34-30 run to keep the game close and enter the final 12 minutes of the ballgame trailing by just two points, 86-84.
In the final period, the Southern Tigers was able to contain the opposing side and managed to protect their lead. Guangdong outscored Jilin in the fourth quarter with a 33-29 charge to seal the victory.
