Vivo has announced that its latest selfie-centric device - the Vivo V5 Plus smartphone - is set to launch in an event in India on Jan. 23. The smartphone features numerous mid-range specifications similar to its Vivo V5 smartphone successor.

The Vivo V5 Plus smartphone is a selfie-centric device in the mid-range segment, which competes against popular phones in the market today like Gionee S6s and Oppo F1s. What makes this device interesting is that it will sport a dual front camera set-up for much clearer and sharper images.

In terms of specifications, the Vivo V5 Plus smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) 2.5D curved glass display screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the handheld device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor clocked at a speed of 1.5GHz, which is coupled with 4GB of RAM onboard. It comes equipped with a built-in 32GB of internal memory storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a dedicated microSD card slot.

On the photography side, the Vivo 5 Plus is said to sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with Phase Detection Auto-Focus (PDAF) and LED flash, along with an impressive 20-megapixel front-facing shooter with soft light LED flash support. The smartphone also features a fingerprint sensor, which is built-in into the home button.

The Vivo V5 Plus runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) operating system out of the box. The smartphone offers a 3000mAh capacity battery inside. Connectivity options include a dual SIM option, 2G/3G, 4G with VoLTE, 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, Wi-Fi hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth, and a micro USB port.
