Shandong Golden Stars Foreign Reinforcement Jason Thompson Named Player of the Week in the Chinese Basketball Association

Former NBA player Jason Thompson of the Shandong Golden Stars had an impressive double-double game performance in the last 24th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), earning him the right to be chosen as the Asia-Basket.com Player of the Week.
According to Asia-Basket, the 30-year-old American forward poured in 33 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in their 120-113 win over the squad of the Beikong Fly Dragons last Sunday night. Thompson is currently the league's third-top rebounder having an impressive average of 14.0 boards per outing.

He went on a 13-17 shooting from the two-point range and made 7-10 from the foul line against the Fly Dragons in leading Shandong to another win.
The product of the Rider University Broncs, who is playing for the first time in China's top professional basketball league, is averaging 1.1 blocked shots per contest and having a decent 58.7 percent field goal shooting clip. Thompson has led the Golden Stars to a 14-10 win-loss record this season and currently puts Shandong to the seventh spot in the Chinese league's 20-ballclub team standing.
The 6-foot-11-inch tall power forward-center was the 2008 NBA Draft 12th overall pick. He was selected by the Sacramento Kings and played for seven seasons with the Vivek Ranadive-owned basketball outfit, appearing for a total of 541 official matches.
Basing on Thompson's statistics in the official website of the NBA, the 2008 MAAC Player of the Year plays 28.1 minutes and scores an average of 11.1 points per game while shooting 49.7 from the field in his rookie season with the Kings.
He was part of the Dwane Casey-headed team's postseason run that saw the Raptors reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in history of the franchise having to face the eventual league's champions Cleveland Cavaliers. Thompson played a minor role off the bench while playing just 5.5 minutes per contest over 10 game appearances.
