After surviving a first-round scare against Chinese wildcard entry Duan YingYing, the tournament's defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland entered the quarterfinal round of the 2016 Shenzhen Gemdale Open on Tuesday with a straight-game triumph over the Romanian Sorana Cirstea at the Longgang Tennis Center.

According to the official website of the WTA, the top-seeded and current world No. 3 Polish tennis star broke Cirstea six times to register an impressive 6-0, 6-3 win that lasted for an hour and 19 minutes.
"After a match like yesterday, there's always less pressure today because you know you could have gone home already," Radwanska said. "I think I was playing much better today, more confident and everything was smoother on court and that's why the score was like that."
The victory was Radwanska's sixth over the No. 78 Romanian tennis ace in their eight official meetings since 2006 and put the first Polish player in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam singles final three matches away from capturing her 21st career singles titles.
"I know Sorana for a long time, since junior days, so of course it's different than when you play someone for the first time," the 27-year-old native of Krakow, Poland, said of her opponent.
"Her ranking was up and down for a long time, but I know it doesn't matter what her ranking is she can play very good tennis - she hits the ball very hard from both sides - and I prepared for that," Radwanska continued.
According to Tennis.com, Radwanska will be facing world No. 39 Alison Riske of the United States. The 26-year-old Riske advanced by defeating the Bulgarian Tsvetlana Pironkova with a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 win.
The upcoming quarterfinal clash between the top world class tennis players will be their third official matchup since 2015. Radwanska enjoys a 2-0 advantage over the American tennis player, whom she had beaten in the tourney's championship round last year.
