The Taiwan community on Tuesday strongly condemned the move to deport four of its citizens suspected of telecommunication fraud from Vietnam to China, arguing that it was due to the pressure Beijing imposed on Vietnam.
The suspects were arrested last December in Haiphong, Vietnam, together with one Chinese citizen. The Taiwan government had constantly requested Vietnam to allow them to prosecute their citizens.

The Hans India quoted an issued statement by the Taiwan Foreign ministry saying that the four suspects had been sent to China against its will and had gone against various regulations that had been put in place.
"China said that in this case, the victims were mostly in China and demanded that all the suspects be sent back to China," the statement read.
The statement released was referring to the over 200 Taiwanese citizens, who were alleged to have engaged in the telecommunication fraud, being deported to China from foreign countries.
The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) on Tuesday sent out a request to Beijing to give dialogue a chance. MAC added that the move only brought distrust between the two countries and did not assist in the efforts to track the cross-border fraud groups.
Efforts, however, to get valid grounds for communication have been futile since June last year since Tsai-Ing Wen assumed presidency. Tsai, who holds a firm belief that Taiwan should seek its independence, is strongly against the "One-China" initiative that seeks to make Taiwan part of China.
The Daily Mail reported that Kenya, Cambodia, and Malaysia are some of the countries where the Taiwan culprits were arrested and later deported to China.
