Chinese Basketball Association: Shandong Golden Stars Rout Guangsha Lions, Stretches Winning Run to 6 Games

Shandong Golden Stars continued to extend its winning streak after scoring another victory in the 25th round of the 22nd season of the Chinese Basketball Association in the expense of the Guangsha Lions with a 130-117 triumph on Wednesday night.

According to EuroBasket, Chinese forward Ding Yanyuhang top all the scorers with a game-high 36 points. The 6-foot-7 local talent also posted seven assists, six rebounds, two blocked shots, and one steal in leading the Golden stars to their sixth straight victory since losing to the team of Qingdao Eagles in the 19th round of the regular season last Dec. 18, 2016.
Foreign reinforcement Justin Dentmon added with 25 markers, while former Toronto Raptors player Jason Thompson finished the game in double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side, which forced the Lions to commit turnovers during the game.
American import Courtney Fortson paced Guangsha with a triple-double game performance of 22 points, 20 assists, and 11 rebounds, while Elijah Holman had 21 markers and 10 boards.
The victory puts Shandong to a better seventh place in the 20-club team standing of the biggest professional basketball league in Asia with a 15-10 win-loss card. They will next face the 15th-ranked side of Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the next round on Jan. 11.
Basing from the match result in NowGoal, the winning team had a slow start in the first 12 minutes of the game as they were outscored by the Lions with a 33-24 run to trail by nine points in the opening quarter. However, the Golden Stars put on a 40-35 second quarter charge to cut the deficit to just four points in half time, 68-64.
Shandong continued to sink in baskets in the third frame of the game and entered the final period with a four-point advantage, 101-97. The Lions' offenses were limited in the last quarter as the Golden Stars staged a 29-20 run to seal the victory.
