Finding the best diet is something that anyone should consider. There is alkaline diet, master cleanse, blood-type diet, cabbage soup diet, etc. But which among these is the most effective?

Rabia Rahman, Nutrition and Dietetics assistant professor at St. Louis University said, "If they're asking for a lot of money (for items other than food products), don't do it. If they say you can eat as much as you want and still lose weight? Bogus." She said that in order for someone to lose weight effectively, he or she needs to achieve balance, moderation, and variety, Duluth News Tribune reported.

How is it possible? People should find the right balance not only in the food they eat but also between the work out and calories consumed. It means that if consumption is just enough, then weight remains the same; but if more fats are burned than consumed, then people can lose weight the right way.

Next is choosing different variety of foods from different food groups. Remember the three food groups - glow, grow, and go? This ensures that people should eat the right amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fats needed in a day. It is also a nice and perfect idea to note down the menu for the week.

Lastly, eating with moderation. In some other diets, desserts or sweets are not allowed since it adds weight. Truth is, eating desserts could be possible but with moderation. Thus, Rahman recommended the Weight Watcher diet plan because it does all but never deprives, The Daily Gazette reported.

According to Ellen Abramson, Weight Watcher Ambassador, the program works on a point system wherein foods with low calories get low numbers like vegetables and fruits, while foods with high calories, saturated fats, and sugars get higher scores.

So based on the clients’ age, height, weight, and sex, they will be able to know how much food they could consume through the point system. This implies that they can still eat the foods they want, given that they will not go beyond their recommended points. “You have to have less of everything else. It's called mindful eating," Abramson said.
