After leaving the team without necessary permission, NBA All-Star point guard Derrick Rose returned to his team New York Knicks on Tuesday saying that he left and flew to Chicago due to a "family issue."
"It was a family issue, it had nothing to do with the team or basketball," the 2011 NBA Most Valuable Player said in a published article of the New York Post.

"That's the first time I ever felt like that emotionally and I had to be with my family," Rose added.
Rose went mysteriously missing from the team on their Monday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Madison Square Garden. He was unable to be contacted but later reached team officials about the reason of his action and his whereabouts.
The 28-year-old native of Chicago, Illinois, said that he left the team without seeking permission shortly after the Knicks' morning shootaround on Monday. Rose added that flew to his hometown on the same day.
Rose flew back to New York on the morning of Tuesday and returned to practice. He apologized to team president Phil Jackson, general manager Steve Mills, and his teammates.
According to ESPN, head coach Jeff Hornacek said that the Knicks accepted Rose's account of the absence and decided not to suspend the 2008 NBA Draft 1st overall pick because his absence was family related.
However, Rose was fined an undisclosed amount for his absence. He is expected to start on Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center.
Rose is in his first season with the Knicks. He was acquired in a trade with the Bulls over the offseason and averaging 17.3 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in 33 official games for the 1946-founded basketball club. He missed four games earlier in the season after back spasms issues.
The Knicks are currently ranked 11th in the 15-team Eastern Conference having a 17-21 win-loss record. They have lost eight of their last 10 matches played and now on a two-game losing skid.
