Ed Sheeran's new song Shape of You may debut on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

For a year, the 25-year-old English singer and songwriter was in hiatus. However, before 2016 ended, he made his presence felt via his social media accounts as he posted a photo suggesting that a new project from him is up.

True enough, he released two new singles on Jan. 6: Shape of You and Castle on the Hill.

According to Yahoo! Music, Ed Sheeran's new song Shape of You has a huge chance of topping the Jan. 28 Hot 100 chart of the Billboard. Meanwhile, his other new single may also be part of the top 10.

Forecasts revealed that Shape could hit the 250,000 mark in downloads by Jan. 12, only a week after its release. With this, it could become the best-selling track of the week.

In the meantime, the Thinking Out Loud artist talked about his upcoming album Divide, in which his two new singles are part of. The album is set for release on March 3.

In an interview with Power 105's The Breakfast Club (via Billboard), Ed Sheeran narrated what he did while away from the limelight. He shared about coming up with 12 new songs for the new album, as well as the weight he already lost.

"I've lost like 50 pounds," he dished. "I doubled in size and sweatpants were the only thing that fit and I thought everything had shrunk in the wash but it hadn't."

He continued saying, "I didn't realize how much I burned on stage. I stopped touring and I just ballooned instantly."

Keep posted for more news updates about Ed Sheeran and his new song.
