Former NBA Player Maciej Lampe Chosen as Player of the Week in the Chinese Basketball Association

Former NBA player Maciej Lampe of the Shenzhen New Century Leopards had an impressive game performance in the last 26th round of the Chinese Basketball Association earning him the right to be chosen as the Asia-Basket.com Player of the Week.

According to EuroBasket, the veteran 6-foot-11 tall big man scored game-high 42 points and pulled down team-high 16 rebounds to lead the Leopards to another convincing victory in beating the Fujian Sturgeons with a 129-109 win last Tuesday night. The 31-year-old Lampe went on a 14-of-18 shooting from the field and went on a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line in 32 minutes of playing time.

With the victory, the former New Orleans Hornets player has led Shenzhen to a better 18 wins and eight losses record putting the Leopards to the sixth spot of the CBA's team standings. And with the season halfway through, the Qun Li-headed basketball side holds a better chance of making it to the playoffs.

Lampe was a second-rounder pick in the 2003 NBA Draft being selected by the New York Knicks as the draft class' 30th overall pick. However, the Knicks traded him to the Phoenix Suns on January 2004.

According to the official website of the NBA, Lampe has appeared in 21 official games in his first season with the Suns while posting averages of 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 10.7 minutes of playing time per contest. On January 2005, he was again traded to the New Orleans and played 21 matches with the team while averaging 3.4 points and 2.7 boards while playing for 12.4 minutes per outing.

Lampe also had a short stint with the Houston Rockets in the 2005-2006 season appearing in four matches. He has played in several leagues in the different parts of the world, playing in Israel (Maccabi Fox Tel-Aviv), Russia (Unics Kazan, Khimky, and Dynamo St.Petersburg) and Spain (Laboral Kutxa).
