Sichuan Blue Whales’ Foreign Reinforcement Hamed Haddadi Chosen as Player of the Week in the Chinese Basketball Association

Former Memphis Grizzlies Iranian center Hamed Haddadi was named Asia-basket.com Player of the Week for his spectacular game performance for the Sichuan Blue Whales in the 27th round of the Chinese Basketball Association.
Haddadi had a double-double game performance of 51 points and 17 rebounds in their 118-111 win against the team of the Shenzhen New Century Leopards last Friday night. The veteran big man played for 44 minutes dominating the shaded area and denying the opposing team with an outstanding eight blocked shots during that game.

According to Asia-Basket, the former NBA player is in the CBA's second leading rebounder with an impressive average of 15.6 boards per contest. Haddadi is a steady 61.0 percent shooter from the field and currently ranks No. 6 in the league in blocked shots per game (1.9 blocks per game).
Haddadi, who led Sichuan to their first CBA championship and named the Finals MVP last season, is also a veteran competitor of many international basketball tournaments, having been a member of the Iranian national team that ruled in the FIBA Asia Championship in the years 2007, 2009, and 2013.
He was part of the silver medalist national team that competed in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Haddadi, who stands 2.18 meters tall, was also instrumental in Iran's championship victory in the 2015 William Jones Cup that was held in Taiwan.
Haddadi has led Sichuan with a 15-13 win-loss record this season. The Blue Whales are currently tied with the Stephon Marbury-led Beijing Ducks for the eighth and ninth spot in the league's team standings.
According to the NBA's official website, Haddadi is averaging 2.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.3 assist per game. He has played a total of 151 official matches in his over five seasons in the largest professional basketball league in the world.
Aside from the Grizzlies, Haddadi has also previously played for the team of the Phoenix Suns, where he appeared in 17 games in the 2012-2013 NBA season.
