English Premier League squad West Bromwich Albion FC is reportedly set to turn down an impending $40 million bid from newly-promoted Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian for striker Salomon Rondon.

According to the Mirror, speculations have been swirling these days of a potential "bumper bid from China to try and tempt" the 27-year-old goalscorer "away from The Hawthorns" in the ongoing winter transfer window.

However, the Baggies are reportedly keen on keeping their prized striker, who the club has bought from Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg for $15 million in the summer of 2015.

Rondon has so far scored 17 goals in 59 appearances in all competitions for West Brom since that time. This season, he is leading the squad in goalscoring after netting seven times in 19 games for head coach Tony Pulis, at least two more than Gareth McAuley and Matt Phillips' production.

With Rondon's striking partner, Saido Berahino, already sold to Stoke City on Jan. 20, it seems like any offers or deals involving the Venezuela international will be out of the question for the Baggies at this time.

Daily Mail Online indicated that West Brom had advised Tianjin of Rondon's unavailability in the current window "at any price". There are rumors that Rondon could become available in the future if the West Midlands outfit could find a suitable replacement for their "main attacking threat".

Tianjin has just completed the signing of Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato from La Liga squad Villarreal for $19.5 million on Monday and head coach Fabio Cannavaro is said to be looking to add more to his roster of imports.

Aside from Pato, Cannavaro has Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel and Brazilian forward Geuvânio as his foreign players at the moment with South Korean midfielder Kwon Kyung-won as the Asian import.

Quanjian won the China League One title last season and was then promoted to the Chinese Super League this term. The new season is set to begin in March.
