OnePlus is reportedly gearing up to produce next smartphone flagship this year that will be named as OnePlus 5.
The new report came from South Korea’s Korea Portal, claiming that OnePlus 5 will feature top of the line specifications to compete with Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone Galaxy S8. The Chinese startup is expected to drop the OnePlus 4 brand name, skipping straight from the OnePlus 3T to the OnePlus 5.

The report said that OnePlus 5 will run under Android 7.0 Nougat and powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.35Ghz. The company will stick to offer 6GB of RAM just like in OnePlus 3 and 3T and to be paired with 128GB internal storage, which will be expandable up to 256GB.
OnePlus 5 is said to sport a dual edged curved display as featured on Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone. The handset will provide 23MP rear camera and a 16MP front camera good for selfies and video calls. The report also said that it will sport a glass body made of ceramic similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix.
It will be powered by an impressive 4000mAh battery. Its charging system is through USB Type-C and will support fast charging technology.
Earlier in February, OnePlus rolled OxygenOS 4.0.3 update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. The updates include optimized Smart Wi-Fi Switcher that switches to data connection in case the Wi-Fi signal becomes poor and increased stability of the Camera app, which is an optimized exposure feature for clicking pictures at night time.
