Recent rumors have emerged that the world's highest-paid footballer, Carlos Tevez, is already unsettled playing at Shanghai Shenhua. Shenhua head coach Gus Poyet recently admitted that his player has been struggling with food and language in China.
Tevez, 33, was acquired by Shenhua in December of last year during the recent Chinese winter transfer window for a fee of $11 million from Argentina Primera Division club Boca Juniors. He was granted a weekly wage of $800,000, which was reported as the highest salary ever given to a football player to date.

However, rumors soon went out that the former Argentina international has been struggling with life in the Far East, particularly with the country's food and language, according to his Shenhua boss Poyet.
"The main problems for Tevez is language and food," said Poyet in an interview prior to their fixture against Tianjin Quanjian on Saturday, as per the South China Morning Post. "Same as me, he can't speak Chinese and he needs a translator all the time or he won't be able to communicate with others."
The Uruguayan mentor then said that Tevez' knowledge of the Italian and English language has made it a little bit easier for his star striker, but it was a still a struggle most of the time.
When it comes to Chinese food, Poyet said that Tevez still needs time to get used to it. Last week, he had a BBQ with (Colombian teammates Fredy) Guarin and (Giovanni) Moreno, except that, he hasn't tried any Chinese food yet. He needs a lot of time to adapt to Chinese food," the coach said.
Meanwhile, ESPN reported that Tevez remains focused on his job despite the "growing rumors he will quit the Chinese Super League and return to Argentina". Tevez had a magnificent CSL debut in Shenhua's 4-0 drubbing of powerhouse squad Jiangsu Suning at their home field of Hongkou Stadium last Sunday.
