Despite separating from Mama June, his partner and mother to his four daughters, Sugar Bear Thompson won't be written off from their TLC reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo".
However, TLC is taking all measures to make sure the show doesn't implode like "John and Kate Plus 8" which took a nose dive after John and Kate Gosselin split.

Because Sugar Bear is the patriarch of the family, the producers of the show believe that without him, the show will feel incomplete. Instead of firing Sugar Bear, management has deemed to instead include the separation into the show's storyline.
Although the producers don't want to exploit the script and have yet to decide how to tackle the issue, they're also very aware that divorces and separations make for higher rating. A source shared, "To tell the truth it's good for the show. It had hit a bit of a lull and now there are tons of story lines ... dating, single parenting, breakups."
Despite the split, they don't want the kids to be "emotionally bleeding" in front of an audience, much like how the public strife between the Gosselins put the children's emotional well-being in the spotlight.
Instead of portraying Mama June as an emotional wreck, TLC aims to give her a bigger role as the solid rock of the family, the one who gives the family strength.
Mama June kicked Sugar Bear to the curb after she discovered that he has been going through online dating websites looking for women. He is said to have also made an online profile for himself under the handle, Georgiafighter31054.
"i love to hunt fish and ride 4wheelers and have a good time. i luve muddy Boggs and love to ride in the mudd," he wrote in his profile. He also said that he is currently single.
Mama June and Sugar Bear have never legally married.
The two share four daughters together, namely, Alana "Honey Boo Boo", Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon, Jessica "Chubbs" Shannon and, Anna "Chickadee" Shannon
