KABUL, Afghanistan - Around 100 people were either killed or wounded during last week's massive attack by more than a hundred Taliban rebels in Ajristan, Ghazni province, on the eastern section of Afghanistan.
According to Ghazni Deputy Governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, among the victims were some women and children who were beheaded by the Taliban.

"Around 15 people were beheaded, includig women and children," Ahmadi said of the gruesome attack.
The killings happened when the Taliban rebels conducted offensive attacks at Ajristan District, that also invited intensive encounters with Afghanistan Security Forces.
Ahmadi said that only a few local police forces were present when the attacks took place. There was also a small number of troops from the Afghan National Army in the area near Ghazni.
"The rebels took over many villages during the attack at Ajristan," Ahmadi stated.
Meanwhile, Kabul has promised to provide support to the government troops and remaining victims in Ajristan and the outskirts of Ghazni where the rebels are still believed to be hiding.
Ahmadi said that the Afghan government in Kabul on Friday assured the public that air support will be provided in the encounter area.
Authorities could not release a specific number of casualties during last week's bloodshed. Ahmadi said that government authorities do not have the capability to tally the exact number of people who died during the attack because of inadequate communication systems.
