PlayStation Vita fans waiting for updates on the handheld port of Minecraft can finally celebrate.

Developer 4J Studios revealed several new updates, including the progress of the port. It announced via its official Twitter account the Minecraft PS Vita Edition is now with Sony for final testing and if it passes, people can see the release after a few weeks.

It must be noted, however, that Minecraft: PS 4 Edition failed it first testing on Aug. 20. It was re-submitted and approved after two weeks, pushing it for release on Sept. 4.

Those who own MinecrPS3 Edition may download the Minecraft PS Vita Edition for free as soon as Sony and 4J Studios release it. The Minecraft: PS Vita Edition is also fully compatible with PlayStation TV.

Meanwhile, 4J Studios announced the newest patch for Minecraft: PS3 Edition will be live today in Europe and North America.

This isn't a major update and only adds Skin Pack 3, Cartoon Texture Pack & Fantasy Texture Pack Trials. The Skin Pack 3, Cartoon Texture Pack and Fantasy Texture Pack on PS3 may be purchased at the PlayStation Store and buying it entitles the customer to both PS4 and PS3 versions.

According to reports, ThoughtSTEM's Minecraft classes are popular with kids because they build items and things in Minecraft that would be hard to build in-game. Some 200 kids are now enrolled and 100 people are on the waitlist for the following batch.

A solar system could also be built in Minecraft complete with planets and moons.
