Russia has condemned the United States and its NATO allies at the U.N. General Assembly Saturday for violating the sovereignty of other nations in the latest example of the deteriorating relations between Russia and the West.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the U.S.-led alliance that brands itself as a champion of democracy, human rights and rule of law is essentially rejecting the democratic and sovereign equality of nations as proposed in the U.N. Charter.

He also added that the U.S. insists upon the world its own vision of what is right and what is wrong.
The foreign minister's assault appeared to be an expression of the worsening anti-Western stance spread by Russian President Vladimir Putin who has gained increasingly strong support at home with his nationalist policies and rhetoric.
"Washington has openly declared its right to unilateral use of force anywhere to uphold its own interests," the foreign minister said.
He also accused the West of using military campaigns as primary recourse to resolve international conflicts despite apparent failures of the United States in the operations its has launched in recent years.
Lavrov has criticized the failed invasion of Iraq in 2003, the Afghanistan war and the NATO intervention in Libya in 2011.
Speaking to world leaders gathered at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the Russian foreign minister reiterated Moscow's stance in the on-going Russia-Ukraine crisis.
He accused the United States and the European Union of causing the crisis, citing that the coup d'etat in Ukraine is an attempt of these allied nations to deny Kiev of a "neutral and non-bloc status."
Earlier, the German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier addressed the U.N assemble and condemned Russia's annexation of Crimea earlier this year as a crime. Steinmeier accused Moscow of breaking international law.
Lavrov also explained that the annexation of Crimea was a choice made by the Russian-speaking population in the country.
Russia's condemnation of the U.S.-led air campaign against the Islamic State in Syria, calling it a breach in the Syrian sovereignty as the attack has been taken without Syrian President Assad's approval.
