Aerial Drone Allegedly Shot Down by Irate Neighbor

A 32-year-old waiter from New Jersey was arrested for allegedly shooting down a neighbor's remote controlled helicopter drone flying within the proximity of his residence.
The drone was being used to take photographs of a neighboring home under construction at the time. While the owner was flying his remote controlled drone over the incomplete home to take photos, he suddenly heard several gunshots and instantly lost control, of the drone.

The owner found his wrecked drone with numerous holes that could have been caused by shotgun shells. He called Lower Township Police Department and led a patrolman to the source of the gunshots.
The police officer proceeded to the home of named Russell Percenti and asked him about the shooting. The officers spotted the shotgun used to shoot down the remote controlled drone.
Percenti was then placed under arrest and charged with criminal mischief and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The firearm was also seized as evidence related to the said crime.
A local judge set a US$2,500 bail amount for Percenti, who posted the required minimum of 10 percent allowing him to be released from jail. The owner of the destroyed drone may decide to seek financial compensation.
The compensation will depend on the type of the drone and the quality of the digital camera mounted on the machine. It could cost Percenti hundreds, or even thousands of dollars in damages.
