After Apple's Bendgate issue from last week, its rival Samsung is now facing the same issues for the new Galaxy Note 4. While the Note 4 has only been on sale in Korea for a few days, customers already started complaining about the quality of its build. A photo emerged on the Internet, showing a card being slipped through a gap between the phone's outer metal case and screen. The latest issue is now called Gapgate.

Samsung rejected claims that the new oversized handset is defective. The tech giant poked fun at Apple's new phablet which was said to be susceptible to bending and called the Gapgate complaints groundless.

After the Galaxy Note 4 was released in South Korea and China on Friday, several South Korean users tweeted or posted photos showing how they can insert a business card between the phone's frame and display panel. Customers said the screen seems like it was not attached properly to the case. Some users were concerned that the gap would be prone to dirt and even allow fluid inside the device.

According to Samsung, the gap is part of the design and does not affect the quality or functionality of the smartphone. The company also assured its customers that all Note 4 units meet its strict quality control and manufacturing standards.

Samsung is the pioneer of phablet devices sized between a tablet and a smartphone when it launched the Galaxy Note series back in 2011. A recent advertisement for the Galaxy Note showed a bent phone bowing to a straight handset with a caption, "Bend to those who are worthy."
