A resourceful gamer have found a cheap and innovative way to make the Nintendo GameCube controller work with the Nintendo 3DS.

The Super Smash Bros is a fighting game title for the Nintendo 3DS and demands some very fast-paced and control inputs to play.

Because of mass frustration from difficulties and broken 3DS Slide Pads by playing the popular Super Smash Bros 3DS title, one hardware modder have tinkered with the Nintendo Gamecube controller to work with the Nintendo 3DS. Even with the 13-year gap between the two gaming consoles, the modder successfully made the classic GameCube controller work as a separate controller for the Nintendo 3Ds for better playability and smoother experience in playing the popular Super Smash Bros 3DS title.

Named "dekuNukem", the modder uploaded a video on Youtube demonstrating the seamless gameplay with the Nintendo 3Ds using the GameCube controller. dekuNukem also posted online the details and instructions on how to make the similar mod work.

To be able to make the similar mod, interested consumers and players would need to buy a variety of electronic parts for the circuit board. A 330 Ohm and 1k resistor, 1uf capacitor, a 2N700 semiconductor and other different pin headers. The estimated price for the additional parts are just under $15.

Obviously, the interested modder would have to solder the electronic parts together meticulously. In addition, tinkering with the Nintendo 3DS hardware also voids the console's warranty from Nintendo.

Patient and successful modders will have a fully responsive and usable GameCube controller with input control and buttons that can be remapped instantly.
